So it was a busy weekend with friends and in-laws visiting ... lots of food, drink and laughs.  Meg is always happy when I'm busy in the kitchen ...

Phil's mum and husband are staying in a caravan park in Ticknall which is not far from us.  They've stayed there a number of times before but this is the first time we've been over there to see them, and what a beautiful spot!  They normally bring me all the fruit from the orchard there and I make pots and pots of chutney with it.

Phil being Phil though had other ideas for the fruit ...

The weather we've had lately has been amazing.  A little too warm for me at times.  After all those years working in volcanically hot kitchens you'd think I'd have developed a tolerance but no.  Give me a quiet, rainy day anytime :)

So THAT'S what a closed beta starting area looks like half an hour after going live!!

I gave up after less than 5 minutes, way too much lag!  And then read later that they'd opened up 2 more servers to cope with that and the log in queue time.  No matter, I have the rest of the weekend and most of Monday to decide if it's worth more investment .. when hopefully the "got to get there first's" have got there already!

I made this for a friend's sister's birthday.  The patterned papers are all Stampin Up apart from the lined one which is Basic Grey Basics ... and the little fairy is Agnes Ketto by Stamping Bella coloured with Copic Markers.  Sequins are from JoseyRose Haberdashery.

So, yes, I'm completely rubbish at keeping my blog up to date!  No real reason other than I'm just out of the habit of doing it and, well, life just kind of keeps going on and keeps finding me stuff to do!

So what else is new in my world?  Phil and I just finished the second season of The Killing last night.  It's the second time round of seeing it for us .. but I love it and can't wait for the 4th season to start next month!  We've just got season 3 to watch now and we're all caught up in preparation ;)

As for the creative stuff, well at the beginning of the year I started on my own Project Life. It encourages me to take more photos where I'd ordinarily leave my camera at home.  And I found a lovely crafty group of ladies who organise monthly get togethers and craft classes ... cards and cake, doesn't get much better!

This I made for Phil's birthday last year.  Lots of stuff used - the hearts are die cut from chipboard and I've painted, inked, papered, sanded, stamped and glittered them.  The squares are hand cut also from chipboard and received the same treatment as the hearts.  The frame is from Ikea.

Wow, well it's been a LONG time since I updated this thing .. for a myriad of reasons I just couldn't be bothered to keep posting.  Life took some turns - some good and some very very bad and blogging was one of the last things I wanted to do.  So I'm making no promises but I'm back for now ;)

One of the main reasons I've reactivated this dusty old thing was for the Sugar Nellie Challenges over at The Sugar Bowl.  I love, love, love their stamps ... adorable yet not too 'cutesy' for my taste.  And this is my entry for this month's challenge ...

The theme is Mother's Day or a Special Lady so bonus, I can use this for my very special Mother-in-Law ;)

The little girl is 'Annie' and I've coloured her with Copics.

The background is a technique I saw on the super talented Jennier McGuires blog here.

Instead of a large background stamp I used some Sizzix flower and leaf stamps, white heat embossed them then sponged over with Distress Inks, spritzed with water and left to dry.

The sentiment is from Waltzingmouse and the gems and sequins are from a very fab company called JoseyRose.

Well if anyone does stop by to read this, thank you for taking the time.

Till next time, maybe, hopefully ;)

Blimey, Christmas is approaching fast!! I've not even started the shopping yet ... the postie's going to love me over the next few weeks!

But yippee, only another week and I can put all the decorations up! I really didn't think I was going to look forward to Christmas at the end of this awful year but I actually am. I guess I'm just looking forward to all the extra sparkle and mince pies!

Speaking of sparkle ... the challenge this week at Meljens is Sparkle and Shine - Glitter, Rhinestones, Foil, Anything that Blings! Hmm, like I need an excuse to use any/all of these! I've used the freebie digi also from Meljens that can be found HERE.

These are also my DT samples for Keep It Simple this week where the theme is Evergreen and for them I've used the Bazzill and Kraft cs, Basic Grey pp, the snowflake is Hero Arts and the text background and sentiment are Waltzingmouse. The holly is coloured with pencils and glitter stickles.

This next card is my entry for this weeks challenge at the Play Date Cafe. I am SO drawn to these colours and what a wonderful inspirational image ...

The paper is again Basic Grey, the flower is PaperArtsy stamps white embossed with lots of Fruit Punch glitter stickles, the leaf I've just cut from felt and hand stitched and the sentiment is another Waltzingmouse stamp.

And lastly I'll leave you with a couple of things that make me chuckle every time I see them ...

Thanks for stopping by :)

Wow it's been cold and frosty here the last couple of days ... really feels like winter has finally arrived ... which is fine by me as I love walking Meg on chilly mornings, wrapped up warm, crunchy underfoot and I'm one of those odd people that like the dark evenings - snuggling under soft blankets and having lots of candles lit ;)

Which leads me nicely to this weeks challenge at Keep It Simple where the theme is Wonderland. To me this means all things snowy and sparkly ...

The image is yet another digi from Pink Cat Studios called Friendly Snowman that's been coloured with pencils and Twinkling H20's. The sentiment is from Waltzingmouse and the pp is Basic Grey Jovial.

This next card I made for a Docrafts Forum sketch challenge. Yep, another digi image, this time from Heather Ellis and her Pure Innocence range. I've always loved these adorable stamps and was thrilled that I discovered them as digis!

And finally I made this as a thank you to Phil's Mum who took us all out for a wonderful meal a couple of weekends ago ... no digis this time but actual real rubber/acrylic stuff ;) The background is a Prima stamp on Kraft card, the leaf is Papermania, the flower is PaperArtsy and the sentiment is Waltzingmouse

And last but not least, no more horror videos, just a chuckle ;) Phil and I "tried" to watch the second Twilight film the other night ... I think we made it a whole 15 minutes before looking at each other and realising we're just to bloody old for all that teen angst ...

(Plus I just DO NOT get the whole Robert Pattinson thing!!)

Thanks as always for stopping by and have a great week ;)

Oh. My. God.

The Walking Dead.

Please please please tell me someone else out there watched it??

Seriously. Up. My. Street.

In fact ... themostupmystreetthingI'veseenforfriggingyears!!

Speaking of scary ... thank God bonfire night and the weekend surrounding it will soon be over. Don't get me wrong, I'll pay good money to go and watch a proper fireworks display ... but the relentless banging and whizzing that goes on for over 6 hours each night the last couple of nights that sends our poor Meg into a panting frenzy is starting to stress us all out now. Ah well, roll on New Year ...

Complete change of subject away from zombies and practically rabid dogs ;)

We're changing the format over at Tag You're It. Instead of doing weekly challenges the DT have decided to host monthly swaps instead. Having hosted two of the recent swaps I can't even begin to describe what an absolute pleasure it's been to receive peoples hand crafted works of art in my mail box. I gave up on forums a long time ago (for a myriad of reasons) but one thing I've really missed is being involved in the swaps. Opening up a carefully sealed envelope to the special little treats carefully wrapped inside even beats getting newly purchased stash in the post ;)

So I do hope you'll join us for our monthly swaps, the current theme is Simply Stamping and this is the bundle I'm offering to swap out ...

I used the theme as an excuse to hunt out a stamp I've not used for a while that I was once in danger of overusing! I love this flower stamp (I think it's from Woodware) and I've coloured it with some Twinkling H20's for a bit of shimmer. The cloud is hand drawn and I'm also loving my new bakers twine I just bought off ebay (what on earth did we all do before ebay for bits and bobs like this??)

This next "thing" is for Keep It Simple where the theme this week is Shape Up and for the current challenge at Meljen's Challenge Blog which is to use 3 different shapes. I'm still trying to get ahead with making Christmas Cards so I chose to make a card in an untraditional shape. The girl is a digi from Pink Cat Studios, the poinsettia is 2 stamps from PaperArtsy and the message is from Waltzingmouse.

If you made it this far, thanks for stopping by, now go watch The Walking Dead or I'll come over there personally to eat your brains muhaahaha ;)
